Sri Lanka will conduct a large scale of elephant census

island wide after 18 years,

Previously census of elephants was carried out excluding the North & East areas, due to war in 1993 which recorded 1967 elephants in Sri Lanka. The census of elephants will commence from 11th of August 2011 island wide.
