
A smallest frog was discovered in the area of Agra Bopath by researchers M M Bahir and Meegaskumbura, the findings were done in 2005 while the research of this species took 6 years.
15cm in length the first record of this species was believed to be found in 1911 in the hill country. Pseudophilautus semiruber named scientifically the species breeding grounds mainly in the mud flats. Nearly 5000 amphibians have been discovered and 46 smallest species have been discovered in the world. Sri Lanka has 3 such smallest species in the world.
